How might we design a low cost conversational Whatsapp bot that helps our users practice English speaking and sentence framing in a comfortable and engaging manner?

Given that Whatsapp was the most used platform by the youth, the team decided to experiment with an AI based Whatsapp chatbot for this low touch model, keeping user retention and chat engagement as the primary metrics to track.

• Increase of overall retention of users from 2% to 5% in 4 months.
• However, despite subsequent iterations (other than the ones mentioned above) on the conversation design, the overall retention fell back to ~3% and the project (along with other projects) saw its sunset.

My Role

Led the above-mentioned experiments on the conversational design with different gamification elements in the capacity of an ed-tech PM.
